I've seen you driving around the ambush maps with a scout stuck in your wheel well. It made me lol. |

Very few have the skill (that I've seen anyway) to require I post being made saying they will kill the game.... It's called be aware of your surroundings and adjust accordingly. If you sit still of course you are gonna catch a bullet. Stay on the move and stay aware of your surroundings. Most snipers I've encountered don't hit very well when you are on the move. So if you notice you are taking fire from somewhere let your team know and try to eliminate the threat, whether alone or with teammates. And honestly most of the time the snipers I've seen are just like annoying flies not really making much of a difference so no need to sweat them. Seriously if you are having that much of a problem may be time to rethink your choice of games or genre all together. Would you rather keep that minor nuisance following you around like a fly that won't leave you alone...or would you rather have this nuisance removed completely? I'd rather keep it. If you remove snipers, then you may as well remove everything except Assault Suits and the AR and call it a day. of all the things wrong with Dust 514, you being personally mad at snipers is not even on the list. I know many people who share my same feelings on almost every issue I present on these forums. The thing is most of them gave up on this game a long time ago. I'm sure you know all 20 of the people who agree with you. If you think snipers are overpowered, then grab a sniper fit and try it out. Any time you think something is overpowered you should try it out. That's what a beta is for. I've seen an increase in the number of LAVs that are being used for movement on the open maps. Part of the reason is because a moving LAV protects the passengers from snipers & anti-infantry fire.
When you're playing rock paper scissors & the other guy keeps throwing rock, throw ****ing paper sometimes instead of asking to get rock nerfed. |

Vadre Zekariah wrote:While I don't agree that the sniping game ruins it for everyone, currently there are too many wannabe snipers in the hills.
It's always a bit of fun shooting from the mountains and pissing off those trying to cap objectives, but if you notice that your team has more than two guys shooting away from up there then perhaps look at going with a different fit out. 6 snipers on the one team is not needed and is really going to lose the game for your team.
The only scenario I can see that would require more than 2 snipers is spawn camping, and then if the enemy team aren't smart enough to be spawning vehicles at that point that would make the snipers redundant, then too bad for them.
I've seen sniper teams in ambush really mop up, but you're completely right about skirmish. Too many snipers make it impossible to hold objectives unless they're the kind of sniper who moves in with their backup weapon to help take the objective then picks off other snipers from where they are. |

Ghost Commando wrote:I'm Not Moejoe wrote:Anyways the main issue here is that there is no way to counter a sniper unless you want to waste manpower by having your own snipers (face it, in the grand scheme of things having players hide in the hills in the back of the map picking off a random player every minute or so instead of getting in the action and helping capture objectives is and always will be detrimental to your ability to win). All weapons need a significant range increase and there should bullet indicators that tell you from which direction you're being shot at from even if you're not getting hit.
The fact that we're playing on barren deserts does not help either. Ok, I see. So what your saying is that CCP should give a pistol the same range and damage as a sniper rifle so you feel empowered due to your own inability to find cover or something to stay out of a snipers bullet path. Hey might as well make the bullet be a smart one so it can curve around walls and go through objects too. Just fire in a random direction and you get a kill right? Or be able to use your knova knife to stick him from across the map too. Oh, oh. Or mabey be more like the matrix and be like neo and stop the bullet or mabey see the bullet effect where the bullet came from so you don't have to pay attention to your surroundings. And I highly disagree with "there is no cover or something to hide behind" BS. If you use your eyes and head, you will see that there is something to hide behind or get out of plane sight as to where your not easy pickings for us snipers. He just realized that there are EVE players with the New Eden mentality in this thread. I don't know if he's coming back.
It sounds kind of like he wants bullet prediction lines like the ones used in made up Gun Gale Online (from the Sword Art Online universe). Which would be kind of awesome because we could hold back an enemy without firing any bullets at them just by pointing the weapon in their general direction. That said, even in that system a sniper wouldn't have a bullet prediction line for the first shot & people would complain about that. |

Tyrius Madison wrote:What exactly is the "New Eden" mentality?
- Adapt or die.
- Trust no one (even if you trust them).
- If it sounds too good to be true, they're probably scamming you.
- If it sounds just about right, double check to make sure they aren't scamming you.
- If someone scams you it's your own fault for letting them scam you.
- Please don't feed the griefers, they know where to find tears on their own.
Think capitalism brought nearly to the brink of anarchy. We make & enforce our own rules in our sandbox and we band together for the good of ourselves, not for the good of others, unless we feel like banding together for the good of others. |

xprotoman23 wrote:Real Bones wrote:Oh dear god jump not you too.... C'mon man seriously? Why are you jumping on the nerf sniper bandwagon now?? Their aren't really many good snipers in the game that I have seen. Why oh why are you whining about them now?? Moejoe I somewhat understood b/c as far as I knew he was only good at MAG. You on the other hand have a great track record at pretty much any FPS... Yet here we are. Smh I expected more from you bro. I'm not whinning about snipers i'm referring to the devolution of this game. Back in march during the early phase of this beta matches consisted of 1-3 snipers at a maximum. Snipers traveled with the team and acted as support for other infantry players. DUST could have been the first game to get sniping correctly besides the later days of MAG with tier 1 snipers in CB's. However though, As this game continued to devolve build after build into the slow unresponsive campfest that it is now snipers can just sit far off above a mountain or behind a redline completely safe and lone wolf and play for personal stats rather than helping the team achieve victory. This game is all about head glitching now. Gameplay is slow and caters to players that like to camp. LAV/HAV/Dropship -are greater than- Sniper/Lasers/AR/SMG/Scrambler Pistol/Shotgun Sniper/Lasers/AR/SMG/Scrambler Pistol/Shotgun -are greater than- Forge Gun/Swarm Launcher Mass Drivers/HMGs/LAVs -are greater than- Blobs Forge Gun/Swarm Launcher -are greater than- LAV/HAV/Dropship
Range Increments are something like: Sniper, Laser, Forge Gun, Swarm Launcher, Mass Driver, AR, Scrambler Pistol, HMG, SMG, Grenade, Shotgun, Nova Knife, Melee
But when you aren't paying attention to your surroundings the results are more like: Long Range -is greater than - Mid Range -is less than- Short Range Then snipers pick you off at a distance & ninjas kill you with shotguns & nova knives.
Balance is all about knowing when to use the tools that you have available and how to make the most of the places that you use them in. |
